Red Candles with Flowers Card Tutorial

WHAT YOU’LL NEED

• E.K. Success punch - Photo label
• E.K. Success Paper Shaper punch - ¾” x 1 ½” oval
• Martha Stewart punch – Pop up Water Lily
• Martha Stewart punch – Medium Holly
• Any Edge punch – I used Martha Stewart Eyelet Lace
• White, Tan, Silver and Red cardstock
• Green glitter cardstock
• Sakura 3D crystal lacquer or Judi Kins Diamond Glaze
• The Art Institute Glitter- Christmas Red
• Rotary cutter
• Cutting mat
• Glue or Pop up dots

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Trim white card stock with Rotary cutter to 8”x10”
Score the cardstock in the middle at the 5” line and use a bone folder to crease the edge of paper to form a card 5” x 8”.

2. Using Rotary cutter trim Tan cardstock to 5”x8” and use glue to adhere to front of card.

3. Use Eyelet Lace Edge punch to create two red and silver cardstock strips for top and bottom of card. Slightly overlap silver cardstock while gluing red piece on top. Trim completed pieces to 5” and glue on top and bottom of card.

4. Punch out two red cardstock pieces from Photo Label and use middle shape to create candle. Take Crystal lacquer or Diamond glaze and create drips down top of candles, sprinkle red glitter shake off excess. Set aside to dry.

5. Punch two red cardstock pieces from oval, trim one side so it looks like a wick, coat with glaze, let dry.

6. Punch out 4 Water Lily pieces from red cardstock, coat with glaze and sprinkle red glitter on top. Set aside to dry.

7. Punch out 8 Holly leaves from green glitter cardstock.

8. When everything is dry glue wick slightly underneath candle, glue candles to front of card. Attach Water Lilies and leaves to complete card.

Tools and Materials

• 8 ½” X 11” cardstock in a variety of Fall colors
• Craft knife
• Scoring board or cutting mat
• Hot-glue gun and hot-glue sticks
• Double-sided tape
• Fiskars Punch – 2” circle
• EK Success Paper Shaper Punch – 1 ¼” X 2” oval
• EK Success Paper Shaper Punch – ¾” X 1 ½” oval
• EK Success Paper Shaper Punch – 2” Scallop Circle
• EK Success Punch - Swirly leaf
• EK Success Punch – Real Estate
• Marvy Uchida Punch - Star
• Martha Stewart Medium Punch - Heart
• Darice Eyes Printed Moveable 15mm

1. Cut two brown pieces of cardstock 1½” X 11” to create 2 strips.

2. Lay strip on score board or cutting mat, with length perpendicular to score lines. Score paper every 1/2". Repeat for second strip. Accordion fold strips.

3. Place a piece of double-sided tape on each edge of one of the accordion-folded strips. Tape one strip to another, end to end, lining up design. Flatten out resulting tube, forming a circular medallion.

4. Add a dab of hot glue to center of medallion to secure in place; hold while glue cools.

5. For tail feathers punch eight 2” ovals and eight 1½” ovals in a variety of colors. Glue smaller ovals to upper center of larger ones. For Turkey body punch one brown 2” circle for head a 2” scallop circle for body and two 1 ½” ovals for wings.

6. For Turkey legs punch two yellow legs using Real Estate punch and two yellow stars for feet. To create beak punch one orange heart fold pointed side in half and trim off excess. Punch three red pieces using swirly leaf for top of head and under beak.

7. Assembly ovals behind medallion and glue in place. Glue brown head circle to brown scallop body, add two small ovals under head for wings. Attach eyes, beak, red pieces, legs and feet. Attach completed Turkey to front of medallion.

Thanksgiving Turkey
E.K. Success Paper shaper Punch – 1 ¼” X 2” Oval
E.K. Success Paper Shaper Punch – ¾” x 1 ½” Oval
E.K. Success Paper Shaper Punch -1 ½” Circle
E.K. Success Paper Shaper Punch – 1 ¼” Square
E.K. Success Punch – Journal Plate & Bracket
Martha Stewart Punch – 1” Heart
Marvy Punch – Star
Darice Eyes Printed Moveable 10mm
Fall colored card stock in brown, yellow, dark orange, black, red and pumpkin
Instructions:
Punch three orange - 1 ¼” X 2” ovals for body
One brown - 1 ½” circle for head
Two brown stars for feet
Four brown, two yellow and two orange – ¾” x 1 ½” ovals for feathers
One orange heart, fold in half and trim to create beak
One black ¾” x 1 ½” oval and one black 1 ¼” square for hat
Take square punch and create a yellow strip for hat
Use Journal Bracket punch and punch out red swirl for beak trim

Take center oval gluing second and third oval under each side to create body of Turkey. Glue feet underneath body. Glue on head, eyes, beak and beak trim. Arrange feathers and glue to back of body. Trim sides of square to create a hat and glue towards top of black oval add yellow trim and glue to head.
